Get Your Paws on the Black Eyed Peas’ Monkey Business

The Peas’ blockbuster fourth album, Monkey Business, has kicked ass on the music charts ever since its release, thanks to the Peas’ knack for creating an irresistible mix of contagious beats and solid lyrics with straight-up positivity, but did you know that the hip-hop heavyweights recently kicked KFC’s bucket too? When it comes to animal welfare, the Black Eyed Peas do not fool around. When Fergie and Taboo found out about KFC’s cruel treatment of chickens, they wrote KFC CEO David Novak to find out “Where’s the Love?” (for the chickens). We wanted to spread a little love around ourselves, so we thought we would give you the chance to score a copy of this CD by just filling out the form below by 31 July 2006.

So why did Taboo and Fergie pen a letter to Novak asking him to “implement PETA’s list of the most basic things that KFC needs to do to improve the lives of the chickens raised and killed for its restaurants”? There’s nothing humane about the Colonel’s secret recipe. Chickens killed for KFC restaurants are crammed by the tens of thousands into sheds that reek of ammonia fumes. They routinely incur broken bones from being bred to be top-heavy, from callous handling, and from being shackled upside-down at the abattoir. Chickens are often still conscious when their throats are slit and when they are dunked into tanks of scalding-hot water for feather removal.

You can send your own sweet note to Novak and let him know what you think of these inhumane practices. Get his address, facts about KFC and more here.

And because you are such a flock star to our feathered friends, we are rewarding five of you with your own brand-spanking-new copy of Monkey Business. So hurry up and complete the form below by 31 July 2006, or you’ll be outta luck. Sorry, but this contest is only for folks who live in India (but everyone else, check out peta2.com).
