You Be the Star!

You Be the Star!

Here at petaDishoom, we stay hip to today’s hottest stars – and that includes you! You can be a star for animals by registering to join petaDishoom’s Street Team. Once you’ve got some experience under your belt – volunteering at a shelter, attending or organising a protest, or starting an animal rights group – contact us and let us know what you’re doing to support animal rights.

ArkaHelping animals is in Star Street Teamer Arka Prava Bhar’s blood. After all, his father, a veterinarian, influenced Arka to start helping animals when he was still in class one! An energetic activist full of great advice about how to go vegan, Arka has tabled at lots of college festivals for petaDishoom, passing around a petition to end primate experimentation. This first-rate “flock” star has also helped us raise awareness about the horrible conditions in which chickens are kept in factory farms – and how this is linked to bird flu. Now in the animation field, Arka’s dream is to make the next Finding Nemo. Find out more about this animated activist here.

SoravA vegetarian since birth, it's no wonder that Star Street Teamer Sorav can't "stomach" the thought of animal abuse. Never at a loss for words, and never afraid to say what's on his mind, Sorav always speaks out and sticks up for animals - even when the police are arresting him for protesting for animals! Learn more about this sensitive, fun-loving activist here.

NiranjanAlthough he’s still a student, Star Street Teamer Niranjan teaches as much as he learns. When he’s not talking to his professors and fellow classmates about helping animals and living a cruelty-free life, Niranjan writes letters to the editor about animal issues (he’s had 20 printed so far!) and organises and participates in a variety of PETA demonstrations. He’s a man who’s always working on a new plan to help animals, and we can’t wait to see what he does next. To learn more about this activist extraordinaire, check out his interview here.

Sowmya ReddySowmya Reddy, another Star Street Teamer, is a student of environmental law, and she founded an animal rights and environmental protection group on her campus called Sanjeevani. Not only is she helping save hundreds of stray dogs from being killed by the local government and finding them homes, she has even adopted a stray herself! She also participates in all sorts of PETA demonstrations and is an active participant in the Compassionate Citizen programme, educating young people in schools across the country about the importance of animal rights. To read about more of her adventures, go here.

Sumanth MadhavLike Sowmya, Sumanth Madhav also participates in the Compassionate Citizen programme. Sumanth finds time to take part in PETA demonstrations and to work as a volunteer with an animal rescue centre, People for Animals, in addition to his studies. With so much already accomplished, Sumanth is sure to go far – be sure to read his interview and check out some great ways you can get involved too.

Tajinder SinghSince the age of eight, Street Teamer Tajinder Singh has been looking out for the animals. Disgusted by the treatment of chickens, Tajinder is passionately committed to speaking on behalf of the animals using his passion for both animal rights and for writing. Through his activism, Tajinder believes he not only makes the animals happy, but also God. Read more about this spiritual protector of the animals.
